Taylor Swift is rewriting history! Swift is undoubtedly an iconic pop star who has created history with her biggest hits. This time again, her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, made a new record on Spotify.
On Friday, April 19, Spotify confirmed on social media that Swift’s latest album became the most streamed album in a single day. Not only this, but Taylor Swift also became the most streamed artist in a single day.
According to reports, Taylor Swift’s latest album was streamed more than 200 million times just after its release, and it’s believed that the number could increase even more. The Grammy winner’s The Tortured Poets Department also became the first album in the streaming platform’s history to break Spotify’s most pre-saved countdown record.
But wait! This isn’t the first time Taylor Swift‘s album has broken the record. In October 2023, her album 1989 became the most streamed album in a single day. However, she has broken her own record now, with The Tortured Poets Department joining her previous two most streamed albums on Spotify- Midnights and 1989 (Taylor’s version).
Well, it’s not a surprise, as fans haven’t kept calm since Taylor Swift announced her 11th studio album. They have been waiting for this monstrous double album to hit Spotify. Swifties were even glued to their devices to listen to the giant album, which later dropped 15 additional songs after two hours of its midnight debut. Isn’t it crazy?
Swift made a surprising announcement just after releasing TTPD. The Blank Space singer announced, “It’s a 2 a.m. surprise: TTPD is a secret Double album.” The second installment is “The Anthology,” comprising 15 extra songs. Those tortured poetries she had written in the past two years are now all available to listen to on music platforms.
Initially, TTPD was intended to be a 16-track album featuring artists like Post Malone and Florence & the Machine. However, Taylor surprised her Swifties with an additional 15-track album.
While the album is a smashing hit on Apple Music and Spotify, it is believed to be inspired by Swift’s exes, Matty Healy and Joe Alwyn. A couple of songs also refer to Kim Kardashian, reigniting the feud between the two, as she suggests Kim’s daughter is Swift’s greatest supporter.
