Meghan Markle Faces Backlash!
Meghan Markle’s brand, As Ever, is facing criticism as the customers are frustrated. The Duchess of Sussex’s brand introduced a new Apricot fruit spread and orange blossom honey recently. The product was sold within an hour. However, a major blunder happened as the team couldn’t fulfil the demands of the customers. After giving the orders, the customers assumed that they had secured the items in the rush.
However, the brand later informed the purchasers that they couldn’t fulfil the orders due to overselling. Though the customers got refunds, they were also promised to get free replacement jars. However, this made the customers frustrated as this kind of mishap hadn’t happened for the first time. During April, the same issue happened with wildflower honey products. Due to the inventory issues, the industry experts are warning that the brand’s reputation could suffer long-term consequences if the same issues keep repeating.
PR Experts Issue Warnings!
Natalie Trice called the situation damaging for any brand. Natalie said that overselling creates a perception of poor planning and disorganisation. She added that customers are buying into a story. Thus, when they are let down by fulfilment, it creates frustration and anger. Natalie even called her careless at best. Furthermore, Evan Nierman, CEO of Red Banyan, also issued a warning. He said that the brand should maintain the safety stock. When customers get apologies instead of products, they lose their trust.
Both PR experts urged the Duchess of Sussex to break her silence and address the issue. Trice warned that customer goodwill doesn’t last. People will stop trusting the brand if this happens again. Meanwhile, a few days after the fruit spread, Meghan launched her first alcoholic drink under her brand. It is a California rosé produced by Fairwinds Estate Winery. Will the brand’s sales decline?
