The Young and The Restless fandom has spoken again. And the complaint still remains the same. For some incomprehensible reason, the makers can’t seem to focus on younger characters for too long. At this point, Summer and Kyle are the only legacy young characters the soap seems invested in.
Yes, there is Claire, but she is still new, we really can’t say what’ll happen with her a few months down the road. Not too long ago, The Young and The Restless had hit young gold with Noah and Allie. The characters were very well received by the fans, their storyline was working with the flow of the soap, and the actors, Rory Gibson and Kelsey Wang, were phenomenal.
Yet, somehow, The Young and The Restless could not hold onto that ship. They even introduced a third angle to their story in the form of Noah’s ex-lover, Audra Charles. But shortly after the makers wrote Noah and Allie off by sending them overseas. Fans were really blindsided by that!
It feels like a total waste of the potential both the characters, and their storyline carried. The soap is in dire need of establishing the next batch of GC mainstays because the older characters have basically gone through every storyline and possible plot twist several times over!
We can only hope that the makers realize the importance of establishing the younger generation while there is still enough time to keep both – them and the older generation on the canvas together on The Young and The Restless. Because, later on, it would be really difficult to get fans invested in a string of new characters they never got used to.
Besides, the makers should realize they are totally missing the “young” in The Young and The Restless. What do you say? Tell us in the comments. Meanwhile, stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more The Young and The Restless news, updates, and spoilers.
