In Conversation With Shemar And Justin
Shemar Moore’s portrayal of Malcolm Winters on The Young and the Restless undeniably captured the hearts of millions. This role not only put him on the map but also earned him a Daytime Emmy. The actor played the younger brother of the iconic Neil Winters, portrayed by the late Kristoff St. John. Additionally, Moore was part of the Y&R family from 1994 to 2002.
He made a return from 2004 to 2005. Since then has popped back in for special appearances in 2014, 2019, and 2023. On the other hand, Justin Hartley got his start as Fox Crane on Passions. But the best was yet to come for the CBS soap actor. Hartley’s time as Adam Newman on Y&R from 2014 to 2016 really set the stage for his primetime success.
Then, he landed the role of Kevin Pearson on This Is Us after saying goodbye to the show. Like the previous venture, Justin again became a fan favorite over the show’s six-season run. Now, back to their conversation with C.B.S.’s social platforms. Furthermore, Moore shared a memorable story with Hartley about his early days on Y&R.
He admitted that stepping into the role of Malcolm was a nerve-wracking experience. However, the late soap icon Kristoff St. John, who played his older brother, Neil, made all the difference. “Kristoff was the man on that show,” Shemar recalled. Moore revealed how he and his college pals watched him, but Kristoff just took him under his wing.
“He told me, ‘You’re green, but I’ve got you. It’ll take time, but you’ll get there, and you’ll be great.'” Where’s the lie, right? Now, both Moore and Hartley have not only become stars in their own right but also executive producers. They run their respective shows, S.W.A.T. and Tracker. The Y&R stars also dive into what it’s like to juggle acting and producing.
They shared their hopes for the upcoming seasons of their dramas. Keep reading Soap Opera Daily for such exciting The Young and the Restless updates! Which of Justin and Shemar’s roles is your favorite? Tell us in the comments.
