Back in the day, The Young and the Restless went through a bunch of child actors for the role of Nicholas Newman. Their wait was over on June 21, 1994, when Joshua Morrow stepped in to play the role. Fast forward to nearly three decades; the soap is gearing up to celebrate Newman’s milestone! The soap is set to air a special flashback-filled episode on the exact anniversary: Friday, June 21! Let’s learn how Morrow’s journey has been playing the legendary role!
The Young and the Restless: Joshua Morrow Shares Insights on Y&R Milestone
The Young and the Restless star reflected on his role in the new issue of TV Guide. He said, “Just the fact that they would be willing to do something like that made me feel very proud.” It made Joshua realize what an incredible journey this has been. He added, “I feel like I’m not worth it like I’m going to wake up, and this has all been a dream.”
The character of Nicholas Newman was born on The Young and the Restless in December 1988. However, it wasn’t until 1994 that the character reappeared as a teenager, fresh from boarding school. It was the time Morrow took over the reins. As a young actor, he was completely aware of how grateful he was to work with TV legends. These include Eric Braeden and Melody Thomas Scott, who played his on-screen parents.
Joshua said, “It’s almost unfair. They’re literally icons. They’re like family to me and I love and respect them so much. The actor admitted to landing in the best situation any young actor could hope for. Additionally, Morrow earned a Daytime Emmy nomination in 1996, just two years into his role. He was nominated for Outstanding Younger Actor and kept getting nominated every year until 2000. Despite the accolades, Morrow remains humble about his career.
Furthermore, Josh revealed how his younger self almost never saw all of this coming! He was a sophomore in high school in Oklahoma, just playing football. Back then, Morrow wouldn’t have believed if someone had told him he’d have a 30-year run on a TV show. “I would have thought you were joking. It’s an incredible accomplishment and one I never take for granted.”
So, make sure to mark June 21 on your calendars. This special episode is going to be one for the books! Until then, don’t miss out on more The Young and the Restless celeb news over at Soap Opera Daily!
