The mother and son had a huge following out in the past, but Diane is now working really hard to heal their relationship. Kyle too, is being responsive. However, it is a slow process and one where Diane has to watch every step she takes. Right now, she just cannot afford anything that would rock the boat for her and Kyle.
The latest The Young and The Restless Spoilers tease that Summer could potentially cause some trouble in the Abbott household in the future. It is starting to get rather apparent that she still has feelings for Kyle. And seeing him move on with Claire is seriously ruffling her feathers. Her complicated feelings could push her to do something that may create issues in Kyle’s life. If Diane senses that we are certain, she will want to nip it in the bud.
Now, Diane and Summer already share a strained past and aren’t really fond of each other at all. Thus, Diane may not even want Summer anywhere near Kyle. Claire is perhaps a much tamer option as compared to Kyle’s ex. In fact, Claire has proven herself to be a wonderful influence on Kyle. She has even played a part in motivating him to consider mending his relationship with his mother. This could motivate Diane to stand guard and protect her son’s latest relationship at all cost.
If Summer manages to reunite with Kyle, there is no way she would ever encourage his relationship with Diane. And Diane can’t have that! Can she now? So, it is in her best interest that Kyle continues to remain close to Claire, and as far away from Summer as possible. Besides, seeing his mother defend his relationship could win her some extra points with her son! But can Diane really keep Summer away from him?
