Soap Twitter (X) is currently on fire with speculations around Melissa Ordway leaving The Young and The Restless as Abby Newman Abbott. It all began when fans noticed that the actress’ name had been taken off contract. This set the rumor mills churning with speculations that she could be looking towards an exit as Abby from the popular CSB sudser.
Recently, Melissa Ordway confirmed to The Young and The Restless fandom that she had indeed gone off-contract. Furthermore, she also added that she never though her contract status would become such a big deal on social media. Clearly, she has underestimated how much fans adore her as Abby! Amid the speculation storm, Melissa held a Q&A session on her Instagram stories to interact with her fans and clarify her future on the soap.
The soap star informed her fans and followers that she chopped off her signature blonde locks as she was no longer on contract, and that allows her to change her appearance as she pleases. She also divulged that she is now taking up new acting roles since she has more free time that she can use outside of Y&R. This revelation, added more fuel to the raging fire around speculations that she was leaving for good.
Thus, Melissa once again took to her Instagram and posted a video about her fate on Y&R as Abby Newman Abbott through a video. “I honestly was not expecting the reaction that I woke up to this morning with all the news outlets taking this story and running with it, Melissa Ordway admitted.” She then went on to admit that it is true that she is not on contract anymore. However, she asserted that she is still very much a part of the soap.
Speaking about the future of her character, she expressed hope that Abby and Devon will have an amazing love story moving forward and joked that the couple will make many babies together. She signed off by adding that she hopes that the writers will continue to write great stuff for Abby. Well, honestly, we hope the same, because we absolutely love Melissa as Abby!
