Coronation Street is giving fans something to look forward to. But it’s not the usual Monday, Wednesday, and Friday episodes. The show is reaching beyond the cobbles for an experience that’s will nudge nostalgia and excitement alike. While earlier news teased a live audience format, the latest update adds even more sparkle, especially for long-time viewers.
The Stage Is Set for a Special Celebration
Earlier this year, Coronation Street confirmed that it would host a special event titled An Audience with Coronation Street. The live stage show promised to offer more than just your standard Q&A, with in-depth interviews planned between five Corrie stars at each performance. Soap expert Sharon Marshall from This Morning is taking on the role of host, ensuring the interviews are packed with personal stories and behind-the-scenes gems.
The event will tour across the UK this September, with tickets starting at £29.50, plus booking fees. Already, the lineup had soap fans buzzing with names like Andrew Whyment, Jack P. Shepherd, Jimmi Harkishin, Jodie Prenger, Patti Clare, Rob Mallard, Samia Longchambon, and Simon Gregson confirmed to appear across various dates. But that was just the beginning.
Three Soap Legends Join the Live Show
Now, Coronation Street has confirmed three iconic additions to the show, Barbara Knox, Bill Roache, and Amanda Barrie. Each one has played an unforgettable role in the soap’s legacy and will take part in select live performances to share personal stories and memories from their time on the street.
Barbara Knox, beloved as Rita Sullivan for over five decades, will appear in both the London and newly added Salford matinee shows. Reflecting on the opportunity, she said she has always felt that the magic of Corrie lies in the connection it shares with the audience. Although she admitted to feeling a bit nervous about stepping out live, she called it the right moment to say thank you and honour what the show has meant to everyone.
Ken Barlow’s Bill Roache, who has been with the soap since its very first episode in 1960, will appear at the Salford evening show and the Sunderland date. Roache expressed his excitement, saying he looked forward to celebrating the incredible legacy of the show and the people who’ve shaped it—both on screen and in viewers’ homes.
Amanda Barrie, remembered fondly as Alma Halliwell from 1981 to 2001, will appear in the Sheffield and Glasgow shows. For her, returning to celebrate Corrie felt like revisiting a beloved chapter of her life. She said she’s eager to share those cherished memories with the audiences who helped make them so meaningful.
