Coronation Street is building towards a huge moment, and now one of its stars has hinted that things might get even messier than fans expect. With a mystery death about to happen during a wedding celebration, Pauline McLynn has suggested that the outcome may not be as simple as one victim and one culprit, leaving viewers with even more questions.
Wedding Celebration Turns Dark In Coronation Street
Fans already know that a shocking death will hit Weatherfield in April, and the first glimpse came through a flashforward episode earlier this year. In that scene, Betsy Swain finds the body of someone she knows on the same day her mum, Lisa Swain, is due to marry Carla Connor.
Wearing her wedding outfit, Betsy appears shaken as she speaks to detectives. She explains that she had been at the Connor-Swain wedding and was heading into town to carry on the celebrations when she made the grim discovery.
When the storyline returned to the present day, things slowly started to fall into place. Five characters were put in the spotlight as possible victims. Megan Walsh, Theo Silverton, Maggie Driscoll, Jodie Ramsey, and Carl Webster have all shown behaviour that could easily lead them into danger.
The tension ramped up again with another flashforward to April 23. As fireworks light up the sky during Lisa and Carla’s wedding, all five characters appear on the cobbles in very different states. Carl looks battered and bruised, Jodie is clearly panicked, Maggie seems tense, Megan has a bloody nose, and Theo keeps to the shadows.
Pauline McLynn Teases A Darker Twist Than Expected
Viewers have spent weeks trying to guess who the victim might be. But Pauline McLynn has hinted that the answer might not be so easy. She suggested that the storyline could involve more than just one death.
involved in some way. According to her, it is easy to imagine any of them being capable of killing Maggie. And with five people in the mix, the situation feels wide open.
Pauline also pointed out that it is not just about who might die, but who might be responsible. In her words, all five characters could just as easily be the one who commits the crime. That makes the whole storyline feel unpredictable, with no clear direction yet.
She also shared a bit about filming, revealing that many of the scenes were shot at night during stormy weather. That added a natural edge to everything, making the scenes feel more intense and giving the storyline a darker tone.
That brings the focus back to Maggie herself. Could she be the one who does not make it through this storyline? Pauline seems open to the idea, as long as it is done well. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers.
