Viewers got their first big crossover between The Young and the Restless and the brand-new CBS soap Beyond the Gates. While there, Devon sat down with Vernon and Anita, two central members of the Dupree family. And here’s where the connections got deliciously soapy.
Anita revealed that the Duprees had a history with none other than the late Neil Winters. That little nugget instantly gave the crossover emotional depth and had longtime Y&R fans feeling the nostalgia. One fan on X cheekily suggested Devon might as well move his “a–” to Fairmont Crest with Abby and the baby, claiming Beyond the Gates wouldn’t waste him like Y&R has “for years.”
Where Could This Be Headed?
Right now, there’s no word on whether Devon will be making more trips, or a permanent move, to Beyond the Gates. But soap fans know better than to close the door on a crossover once a connection has been established.
The Dupree link to Neil Winters is the perfect excuse to bring Devon back whenever the writers want. And given how loud the fan chatter has been, it’s hard to imagine CBS not at least keeping the option open. For now, all eyes are on Genoa City and Fairmont Crest to see if Devon pops up again.
