Gary Windass has disappeared in Coronation Street, and no one’s quite sure why. It All Started With Lou
You’d think Gary had enough on his plate without inviting more drama in, but nope, he’s been playing knight in shining armour to Lou Michaelis. That’s right, Maria’s sworn enemy. Despite the tension between the two women, Gary stepped in to help Lou recently, trying to do the right thing.
But soon it all turned ugly. Lou showed up at Gary’s apartment and totally crossed a line, she went in for a kiss.
Gary knocked it on the head, but Lou didn’t handle rejection well. Rather, she threatened to tell his wife that something had happened between them and destroy his marriage.
Already shaken, Gary was involved in another screaming argument with Maria, and that was the last straw. He tossed a bag over his shoulder and left Weatherfield, saying he was going to his mum’s for a while. Just a little break, he said. Time to get his head together. Now? It’s beginning to look like it’s more than that.
Gary’s Silence Rings Alarms in Coronation Street
The following week, Liam begins to sense that something’s wrong, Gary’s not answering his calls, and he hasn’t returned any messages. The boy’s had a terrible year already, and Gary’s always been there for him during it all. Liam explains to Maria just how anxious he is, and as she attempts to calm him down, it’s obvious she’s merely pretending. Inside, she’s also freaking out.
“It’d be a shock if Gary actually ignored Liam’s messages,” a Corrie insider noted. And they have a point, Gary never was the sort to simply ghost his step-son, particularly when the boy’s already endured so much. But on the other hand, he did tell him he needed space.
So, is this simply a bloke clearing his head? Later, Maria hears from him, but indirectly. Gary sends text that he’s staying at a friend’s and will return home shortly. Is this trustworthy? We have doubts! Maria is trying to believe him, but something doesn’t feel right. Why has he been avoiding Liam? There’s every chance Gary is still feeling the weight of that threat.
