In an interview he added, “Forget that you’re 80. Don’t think about it.” When the actor stays focused on his busy acting career, it helps him maintain excellent mental fitness every day. Well, Clifton also credited his marriage and wife for his healthy lifestyle.
He added, “I just keep working and keep my mind working. And I’m fortunate enough to have a loving wife who takes excellent care of me and makes sure that if I need medicine, I have it and I take it.” The actor also knows that fighting off the standard physical challenges that naturally arrive after eight decades of life is a daily priority. “I fight those things that come on normally because you’ve lived 80 years and by God’s grace, I’m still hanging in there,” he added.
Playing Vernon Dupree In Beyond The Gates Allows Clifton To Explore A Deeper Romance
On the popular show, the performer plays Vernon Dupree, a retired senator and powerful family patriarch living in a fictional gated community outside Washington DC. Well, the actor also credits his role for influencing how he thinks about faith, connection and romance.
Clifton mentions, “With Vernon, I’ve explored a deeper sense of love, actually. I love my family and I love my children and I love my wife, but there’s something Vernon’s love for Anita that is different in a sense.”
Elsewhere, the actor is incredibly surprised by the massive popularity of the drama. He praised the cast and crew for giving maximum effort. “I didn’t expect this and for it to be such a hit. The lovely things for me is that it is so diverse, and everybody is giving so much of themselves. We all contribute the best we can as much as we can.”
