CBS is making a few big changes to its daytime lineup for Memorial Day, and soap fans are about to notice it right away. While The Young and the Restless and Beyond the Gates will air repeat episodes on May 25, The Bold and the Beautiful will still show a brand-new episode. The timing has also caught fans’ attention because CBS is preparing for a major crossover storyline between Genoa City and Fairmont Crest next month.

CBS Changes Its Soap Schedule For Memorial Day

CBS has confirmed that both The Young and the Restless and Beyond the Gates will air repeats on Memorial Day. However, The Bold and the Beautiful will continue with a fresh new episode during the holiday lineup.

The repeat episode of The Young and the Restless first aired on July 3, 2019, as episode #11720. In that episode, Victor Newman made a dangerous choice while Victoria Newman planned revenge against Phyllis Summers. The episode also showed Chelsea dealing with problems from her past while romance started to grow between Devon and Elena.

Beyond The Gates
BTG/CBS dropped new cast photo for Season 2.

At the same time, Beyond the Gates will rebroadcast the special episode Beyond the Gates: Inside Fairmont Crest. The special first aired on January 19, 2026. CBS filmed it in November 2025 at the show’s Atlanta studio. The episode gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the soap and revisited some of season one’s biggest storylines, including shocking affairs, dangerous cons, and hidden family secrets.

Many cast members appeared in the special, including Tamara Tunie, Clifton Davis, Karla Mosley, and Brandon Claybon. Ben Gavin also appeared in the special before producers later decided to kill off his character Derek Baldwin earlier this week.

The Crossover Storyline May Be Behind The Repeat Episodes

Fans were not too surprised to see Beyond the Gates air a repeat because the soap is only expected to air 238 episodes during season two. Still, many viewers found it unusual that CBS also scheduled a repeat of The Young and the Restless. The network usually saves repeat episodes of the longtime soap for winter holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s Day.

One possible reason for the change could be the huge crossover event that will air in June. CBS reportedly needs time to line up the story timelines because several actors from The Young and the Restless will appear on Beyond the Gates across multiple episodes.

Devon Winters will once again return to the Beyond the Gates world after his earlier visit with the Dupree family last August. This time, the crossover will also include Victor Newman, Jack Abbott, Kyle Abbott, Diane Abbott, and Abby Newman.

The storyline will focus on Vernon Dupree and Victor Newman reuniting at a political fundraiser. In the story, Victor has supported Vernon’s political campaigns for years, while Vernon has backed laws that helped Newman Enterprises. Vernon now asks Victor to become the keynote speaker at a fundraiser for his grandson Martin.

This crossover will become the second official event connecting Beyond the Gates and The Young and the Restless. It will also mark the third crossover involving Beyond the Gates overall. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Beyond the Gates spoilers and behind-the-scenes updates.
