Coronation Street has just hinted at some serious drama for Maggie Driscoll, and this time, her mistake could cost her everything. In the middle of a heated argument, Maggie lets something slip about Ben’s father. And, it is enough to make Ben stop and question what he has believed his whole life.
A Secret From The Past Starts Coming Out
This all goes back to the 1980s, when Maggie had an affair with Jim McDonald, who has now passed away. For years, Ben believed that Maggie’s late husband Alan was his dad. But the truth is different. Jim is actually Ben’s biological father.
Maggie has kept this hidden for years and has done everything she can to protect that secret. She even got involved in Ben’s friendship with Steve, Jim’s son, just to make sure nothing came out. In the latest episode, things got tense when Maggie confronted her grandson Will.
She wanted answers about his supposed relationship with sports coach Megan Walsh. Will stood his ground and said he only had a crush on her and that Megan’s baby was not his.
Maggie tried to stay calm, but it did not last long. She lost her temper and called him “one stupid boy in a long line of stupid boys.” Ben and Eva walked in just then and were clearly shocked by what they heard.
An Argument That Changes Everything
Ben stepped in straight away and told his mum to stay out of it. He reminded her that Will is his son and that he would handle things. But Maggie did not hold back. She accused Ben of not looking after his family properly.
That hit a nerve. Ben fired back and said the “wrong parent died,” adding that his dad would have helped if he were still alive. Maggie could not take that. She told Ben he did not really know Alan and said he was taking Alan’s side over his “own flesh and blood.”
The moment she said it, she realised she had gone too far. She quickly tried to cover it up and said she was just upset and confused. But Ben picked up on it. Later, he told Eva it sounded like Maggie was hinting that Alan was not his real dad.
Eva tried to calm him down and said Maggie was just hurt and speaking out of anger. Ben agreed for now, but it was clear he was still thinking about it. Maggie tried to fix things, but the damage was already done. Ben now has doubts, and those doubts are not going away.
