Coronation Street Brings Back Star After 18 Years In NEW Leanne Twist!

By Roy

Coronation Street is bringing a new face to Weatherfield next week, and he is already set to cause a stir. Idris Nazir will arrive on the cobbles, and his first scenes will quickly connect him to Leanne Battersby. Their spark looks clear from the start, but Idris also seems ready to ruffle a few feathers along the way.

Idris Nazir Is Coming To The Cobbles

Coronation Street fans will soon see Idris Nazir arrive in Weatherfield. He is Alya’s cousin, and the soap has already teased that he will become a new love interest for Leanne Battersby.

In a trailer shared on the soap’s official Instagram account, Idris arrives in a Mercedes Benz and meets Alya. The clip then shows him getting close to Leanne, and the two share a kiss. During the moment, Leanne says: “I reckon we could balance each other out”. This hints that their connection could turn into a new relationship.

CS/ Idris impresses Brody

The trailer also shows Idris saying that he is not a gangster because he likes “to sleep at night”. Still, he clearly has a bold side. He impresses Brody Michaelis and also winds Daniel Osbourne up, so his arrival may bring more drama than romance alone.

ITV has said that “a fiery romance” will develop between Leanne and Idris. The two have already met before at a Nazir family gathering, but his arrival in Weatherfield will bring that connection back into focus.

Kate Brooks Teases Leanne And Idris’ New Romance

Corrie producer Kate Brooks has shared more about Idris and what fans can expect from him. She said: “He is very, very charming, the charm oozes out of every pore of this guy.

“He’s a savvy kind of business guy, he’s got a bit of a ruthless streak, he is prepared to get his hands slightly dirty, and he can charm the birds from the trees.”

So, Idris may be charming, but he is not completely soft. Kate’s words suggest that he knows how to win people over, but he also has a tougher side. That could make him an exciting new character on the cobbles.

Kate also spoke about his connection with Leanne. She added: “He’s a new love interest for Leanne. The attraction is instantaneous. It kind of gives Leanne a new lease of life. She’s been harbouring a deep-rooted resentment towards Toyah and Nick, because that’s the life she had.”

Junade Khan Returns After Years Away

Idris will arrive on Tuesday, May 26, so fans do not have long to wait. The role is played by Junade Khan, who has actually appeared in Coronation Street before. He was part of the soap back in 2008 “for a very short stint”.

Junade said: “I joined Corrie for a very short stint as a love interest for Rosie Webster. “She’d been kidnapped by John Stape, and we met in a nightclub. My character was called Saj, though Helen Flanagan called me ‘Sarge’ which was funny! I remember being in the Rovers with Sally, Gail and Carla.

He added, “Coming back now, I saw Alison King and said, ‘I’ve seen you before!’ It’s a bit surreal, but it feels right to be back.” Junade also shared how happy he felt when he found out he was returning to the ITV soap. He said: “When the news finally came, I was in the living room with my kids. “My agent rang – and he never rings, he usually just emails!

The actor added, “He said, ‘I’ve got bad news, you have to move to Manchester’ I just couldn’t stop smiling. I’ve been driving buses for eight years while doing little acting jobs here and there, so to be able to give that up… it was unbelievable. I even had a Coronation Street magnet on my fridge for years.

Now, Junade is back on the cobbles in a much bigger role. Idris already looks set to bring romance, tension, and plenty of drama. With Leanne ready for a fresh start and Idris arriving with charm and confidence, Coronation Street fans may be in for a very lively new chapter.
