Carla’s week goes from bad to worse in Coronation Street, and you can almost feel the tension building around her. With the Swain family drama heating up again, things start moving in a direction that leaves you worried about what’s coming next.
Becky’s Games Keep Pulling Everyone In
If anyone has been causing chaos lately, it’s definitely Becky Swain. Ever since she pulled off that wild stunt of faking her own death to get away from Spanish gangsters, she has been working overtime to win Lisa back and slip into Betsy’s life again.
And honestly, she’s doing it in the sneakiest way possible. Carla saw through the act from day one. But when Lisa kept defending Becky, Carla finally snapped and ended things, even though she still loves her. She moved out but stayed determined to expose Becky for exactly what she is, basically a bargain-bin Tracy Barlow with a plan.
Kit Green, our resident “awesome police officer” because yes, his mug literally says that has been suspicious of Becky ever since he walked in on her threatening Jeremy Costello’s daughter. He and Carla put the pieces together and realised Becky’s old deal with Costello could ruin her career.
Costello had helped fake her death in the first place, and when he later tried to force her to disappear again, she didn’t back down. Instead, she got someone to attack him and land him in the hospital. They just need solid proof, which is the one thing they still don’t have.
Carla Slips As Becky Moves Closer
Kit goes to see Costello in hospital and hears from Costello’s wife that he planned to retire to the Lake District in September. Later when Kit mentions this to Lisa and Becky, he points out how strange it is that Costello never told anyone.
Lisa admits it’s odd, but Becky’s uncomfortable reaction is what really catches Kit’s attention. Kit brought everything straight to Carla, explaining that he believed Becky and Costello had worked together. But Carla, already drained and heartbroken, just said none of it mattered without evidence.
Then she poured herself a scotch, something that immediately signalled trouble given her long struggle with alcoholism during previous traumatic times. It really felt like she’d hit rock bottom again. Seeing this, Kit panicked. And instead of thinking it through, he told the one person who absolutely should not hear it: Becky. He mentioned that Carla was drinking in the factory and said Lisa should probably know. Becky promised she’d pass along the message; which, of course, we know she won’t do in the way Kit imagined.
Later, Carla poured herself another drink inside the Underworld office, trying to numb the pain of everything collapsing around her. Then Becky walked in, silently closed the door, and left the entire situation hanging in the most unsettling way. With Carla vulnerable and Becky in full “bad cop turned bunny-boiler” mode, it’s hard not to fear the worst. Everything now hinges on what Becky chooses to do with Carla cornered like that.
