There’s no avoiding the backlash now. Following a week of dramatic plot turns, Coronation Street is reeling from the brutal tragedy that’s claimed the life of one popular resident, and the knock-on effect is already taking its toll. As one mum demands justice, another woman gets the sack. But is this actually the end for Lou Michaelis?
Tensions Boil Over After A Secret Is Revealed in Coronation Street
Mick Michaelis was always bad news, but no one anticipated the depth to which he would descend. Matters turned fatal after Kit Green revealed a bombshell that sent Mick spinning. After he figured out teenage Brody could possibly not be his biological son, Mick went back home to coerce the truth out of Lou. After an agonizing confrontation, he stormed out in a drunken rage.
To Craig Tinker’s misfortune, he encountered Mick at the most inopportune time. Still trying his best to impress Kit on his CID placement, Craig confronted Mick during a disturbance, only to be confronted with a savage assault. The assault was vicious, and that night Craig died from his injuries in hospital, leaving the entire street devastated.
Lou Is Sacked As Maria Draws A Line
In the days ahead, sorrow gives way to tension. Whilst Mick languishes behind bars, Maria Connor has had enough. The seething rivalry between Maria and Lou comes to the boil when she dismisses Lou from the salon, again.
Having just been fired, Lou finds solace in a most unlikely setting. She consoles Gary Windass and apologizes for the thumping Mick gave him, confessing softly that it wasn’t the first time she was also on the receiving end.
Taken with her vulnerability, Gary offers to buy her a drink, just as Maria arrives. And let’s just say, the expression on her face could curdle milk.
This isn’t the first time Lou’s career at the salon has turned out in catastrophe. Viewers will remember she once hurled a bowl of hair dye at Maria during an earlier confrontation. Audrey had intervened to offer her a second chance, but with the Street in grief and nerves fraying, will anyone support her this time?
The Michaelis Mess Deepens
Meanwhile, the family drama of the Michaelis clan keeps on getting more dramatic. Brody, now convinced that Kit had framed his dad, breaks into Kit’s apartment and goes ballistic. But the biggest shocker comes when Bernie Winter intervenes to provide Brody with a phony alibi—risking everything to save the boy she considers family.
Kit, still stunned by Craig’s death, threatens to straighten up or rot in prison like Mick. But Brody’s not budging, and neither is Mick. In jail, the thug is given a brutal beating and informs Lou that he believes Kit had it orchestrated. Mick insists on pleading not guilty, even if it kills him.
On the streets again, Lou is battling a different struggle, a struggle for her reputation, her position, and maybe even her pride. With past resentments coming up and fresh enemies everywhere, the Street’s newest outcast might be on her last second chance.
