Coronation Street has finally pushed the Theo Silverton murder investigation into arrest territory, and the latest early ITVX release makes one thing clear: DS Lisa Connor-Swain is no longer just asking questions. After days of suspicious behaviour, hidden evidence, and nervous residents, one suspect tries to leave Weatherfield before the police can reach her.
Coronation Street Airs Arrest In Theo Silverton Murder Investigation
Coronation Street’s Thursday episode sees Summer Spellman arrested as the Theo Silverton murder investigation takes a dramatic turn. The suspect attempts to flee the cobbles, but the police catch up before she can escape. The murder mystery surrounding Theo Silverton’s death has already placed several Weatherfield residents under DS Lisa Connor-Swain’s spotlight.
She has questioned people connected to Theo’s final hours and even vetoed her honeymoon so she could focus on the interviews. She also has a personal reason to stay close to the case, as her daughter Betsy found Theo’s body. George Shuttleworth was one of the first suspects taken into the station. Police had reason to question him because Theo’s blood was found on his jumper, and he had also been absent for much of the evening in question.

His partner, Christina Boyd, also faced questioning, and officers still remain suspicious about her movements. Gary Windass has not escaped suspicion either. He smashed up Theo’s van and sent him a threatening text message just hours before Theo died. With that kind of behaviour hanging over him, Gary quickly became another name in the frame as Connor-Swain tried to work out who had the strongest motive and opportunity.
Summer Spellman’s Behaviour Raises Alarm Before The Arrest
The focus then shifted towards Summer Spellman after George and Christina made a troubling discovery. Earlier this week, they found Summer’s journal, which detailed how she wanted to aim a gun at Theo’s head. Summer reacted furiously when she realised they had invaded her privacy, and she later burned the diary in the back yard.
That moment deeply unnerved George. He wondered why Summer would destroy something that could look like evidence, especially because he remembered seeing her running away from the crime scene. Summer denied everything, but her behaviour only made the situation look worse.

When police brought Summer in for questioning, she assumed George had reported her. However, DS Connor-Swain had actually found a picture of Summer wearing a brooch that had been discovered in Theo’s flat. Connor-Swain wanted to know how the brooch had ended up there, but Summer managed to wriggle out of the awkward situation.
In the latest episode, Summer prepares to leave for a university placement in America. However, she does not realise that George has already told Connor-Swain about his concerns. George shares what he has done with Christina, unaware that Summer is listening from afar and slowly realising that the police may be closing in.
Todd Grimshaw Gets Pulled Into Summer’s Failed Escape
Todd Grimshaw later finds Summer with a hold-all bag and quickly understands that she plans to leave. Summer explains that she is scared about being arrested and says she will fly to the States that afternoon. Todd begs her to stay and warns that running away will only make her look more guilty.
Summer fires back and says none of this would have happened if Todd had not brought Theo into their lives. Despite his concerns, Todd eventually agrees to drive Summer to the airport. However, Connor-Swain and her team are already making their way to Coronation Street to get her.

At the Rovers, Todd tells the regulars that a witness has come forward and implicated Summer. George looks nervous and guilty as everyone describes Summer as a good person who would never be capable of taking someone’s life. His reaction adds another layer of tension, especially because his concerns helped push the police closer to her.
The arrest now leaves the murder investigation in a much more dangerous place for Summer. Her attempt to leave may have come from fear, but it also gives Connor-Swain another reason to question her. With George, Christina, Gary, and Summer all carrying suspicious details around Theo’s final hours, Coronation Street has made it clear that this case is far from solved.
