Coronation Street Teases Details Of Debbie’s EXIT
Coronation Street has confirmed that Sue Devaney, who portrays the role of Debbie Webster, is about to leave Weatherfield in a heartbreaking dementia storyline. Long-time viewers know that the actress first appeared on the show as then-15-year-old Debbie four decades ago. And stayed with us for a year before coming back in 2019. We will soon witness the fan-favorite character being diagnosed with dementia, which will lead to her exit.
In a bid to save their favorite character on the ITV programme, heartbroken fans had launched a petition to save her. They urged the broadcast channel to reconsider this idea. They asked producer Kate Brooks to “reconsider this story now before work on this begins.” The petition read, “If this storyline goes ahead – it will not only rob fans of a beloved character. But also further erode the heart and soul of Coronation Street.”
It also added that Debbie is a symbol of what makes Corrie unique because she is a full package. The show bosses declined to make a comment on any storyline speculation. But they have now confirmed it through an official Q&A issued to media with star Sally Carman, who plays the role of Abi Webster. The popular star confirmed that this will be ‘a big year for Abi.’ This response came specifically in reference to Debbie and Kevin’s storyline.

Debbie actress Sue made her debut in 1984 and hasn’t opened up about departure ever since the announcement. The petition to save her has attracted over 900 signatures at the time of writing.
