Summer Spellman’s future on Coronation Street suddenly looks more uncertain than ever, but next week may bring the one thing she desperately needs: someone who can support her version of events. As suspicion grows around Theo Silverton’s murder, Summer faces police questioning, a shocking discovery from George, and one possible witness who could change everything.
Summer Faces Police Pressure As Theo’s Murder Mystery Worsens
Embattled Summer Spellman might have a crucial lifeline on Coronation Street next week, as the hunt to identify Theo Silverton’s killer continues. The character will be taken in for questioning over the murder, and the situation could push her closer to the centre of the whodunnit.
Summer, played by Harriet Bibby, has already emerged as something of a prime suspect in the mystery. This week, fans have also seen her receive major personal news, as she finds out that she has been offered a place at an American university.

However, leaving the country may not be simple anymore. Summer now faces rising suspicion over abusive Theo’s death, and George Shuttleworth adds to the pressure when he finds a journal in which she writes about wanting to put a gun to Theo’s head.
That discovery could make things much worse for Summer, especially as everyone connected to Theo remains under the spotlight. What once looked like a possible escape to the US now risks becoming tangled in a murder investigation that refuses to loosen its grip.
A New Witness Could Back Up Summer’s Alibi
In scenes set to air next week, Summer will remember a crucial witness who could back up her alibi. That moment may offer her the first real hope she has had since suspicion began closing in around her.
The big question is whether this witness can prove that Summer is innocent and help exonerate her. If they can support her version of events, Summer may finally have a way to push back against the accusations surrounding Theo’s death.

But even if the witness clears her name, Summer still faces another major decision. Will she be able to leave the cobbles behind and return to the US to continue her studies. Or will Theo’s murder continue to pull her back into Weatherfield drama?
Elsewhere, George will struggle with guilt and confess to Todd that he told Lisa about Summer. By doing so, he may have potentially implicated her in Theo’s demise. Todd’s reaction could be explosive, especially given how much pain Theo has already caused within their circle.
Harriet Bibby Teases Summer’s Fear And Possible Motive
Speaking about Summer’s ordeal, Harriet Bibby said: “Sitting in a police station being questioned over someone’s murder is horrific. Summer’s in panic mode. Everyone who was linked to Theo is just trying to keep their head above water and stay out of suspicion’s way.”
Summer may have a possible alibi, but the character is not without motive, and Bibby has acknowledged that tension. She said: “Theo stole Billy away from Summer,” she said. “He’s also taken a part of Todd, because he’s not the same guy as he once was. It boils down to the question: would Summer kill to protect what’s left of her family?”

Coronation Street has confirmed that Theo’s killer will finally be revealed over the summer. Producer Kate Brooks told Digital Spy: “We reveal to the audience who it is during late June/early July. There’s lots of people who you’ll definitely think it could be.
“It’s a massive story with so many different twists and different offshoots. You’ll think you’re watching one thing, and then it diverts into a completely new story territory. It’ll definitely keep people guessing!”. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers and behind-the-scenes updates.
