Since returning to Weatherfield as the Rovers’ new landlady, Eva Price hopes for a fresh start with Ben and his family. Instead, she finds herself clashing daily with Ben’s mother and co-landlady, Maggie Driscoll, who makes no effort to hide her dislike. Maggie’s frosty looks and cutting remarks make life uncomfortable for Eva, especially as they work side by side in the pub.
With a strong presence that recalls some of Weatherfield’s most memorable women, Maggie quickly establishes herself as a force Eva can’t ignore. What makes Maggie especially worrying is her past. Coronation Street has already revealed that she is capable of going to extreme, even deadly lengths to protect her family. Moments That Make Maggie Suspicious
Things take an awkward turn when Ben’s daughter Susie talks about wanting a baby brother or sister. Ben likes the idea, but Eva clearly doesn’t. Her shaken reaction immediately catches Maggie’s attention and adds to her growing doubts.
Soon after, Carl shares another detail that sets alarm bells ringing for Maggie. He reveals that Eva’s credit card has been found in one of the bedrooms at the Chariot Hotel. Maggie confronts Ben straight away, and he explains that Will had taken his girlfriend there and used Eva’s card to pay.

Thinking quickly, Adam hands Eva a jewellery box and asks her to hide it. Eva slips the box into her handbag, unaware that Maggie has been quietly watching the whole exchange. As soon as Eva leaves, Maggie takes her chance and searches through the bag. She’s convinced she’ll finally find proof of Eva’s secret. She’s disappointed to find only a necklace engraved for Alya.
