Theo Silverton murder investigation in Coronation Street took another dramatic turn in Thursday’s episode as police made a surprise new arrest.
While Summer Spellman remains behind bars as the chief suspect, DS Lisa Connor-Swain uncovered fresh evidence that led her to another Weatherfield resident. Scroll down to see who’s in danger.
Another Coronation Street Resident Finds Himself Under Suspicion
Theo Silverton’s murder investigation has already produced plenty of twists, and now another Weatherfield resident has been pulled into the case. While Summer Spellman remains in custody as the main suspect, Lisa Connor-Swain has continued searching for new clues.
Fans already know that the truth is still some way off. Series producer Kate Brooks previously said that viewers will not find out who killed Theo until later in the summer.
“It’s a massive story, there’s so many different twists, and there’s so many different offshoots to the story as well,” she explained. “You think you’re watching one thing, and then it diverts into a completely new kind of story territory. It’ll definitely keep people guessing.”
One clue that caught Lisa’s attention involved a missing mobile phone. Earlier, Todd Grimshaw had asked whether he could collect his phone from the police station. Lisa told him the phone had never been taken in for forensic testing and suggested that he had simply lost it somewhere else.
Brody Gives His Side Of The Story
Things changed when the missing phone turned up at a pawn shop. Investigators then found fingerprints on the device, giving Lisa a fresh lead in the case. Armed with this new information, Lisa arrived at No. 4 and arrested Brody Michaelis on suspicion of theft. Sally and Tim Metcalfe were stunned as Brody strongly denied any wrongdoing while Lisa escorted him to a police car.
The arrest also created concern for DC Kit Green. As more questions emerged about Brody’s connection to the phone, Kit found himself worrying about how deeply his son might be involved in the investigation. When police questioned him, Brody insisted that he had done nothing wrong. He explained that he had been looking after his younger sisters while Sally and Tim attended Lisa’s wedding.
According to Brody, one of his sisters drank some wine. So he went out to buy food from the kebab shop to help sober her up. While walking near the builders’ yard, he claimed he found the phone in a skip and assumed that somebody had thrown it away.
Brody told police that he later sold the phone to a pawn shop because he believed it had been abandoned. Although Sally was angry that he had left the girls alone at home, she appeared to accept his explanation.
However, the phone’s discovery still leaves several unanswered questions. A flashback previously showed someone wearing black gloves removing the SIM card before throwing the phone into the skip. If Brody is telling the truth, then somebody else placed the phone there before he found it. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers and behind-the-scenes updates.
