“She Acts Like A 14-Year-Old”: Coronation Street Fans Tear Into Summer’s Latest Scenes

By Roy

Fans of Coronation Street cannot stop talking about Summer Spellman after a recent scene showed her private journal filled with dramatic scribbles about Theo. What was supposed to be a tense clue in the ongoing mystery quickly turned into a huge debate online, with viewers questioning whether the writers have forgotten how old Summer is actually meant to be.

Fans Think Summer’s Journal Looked “Too Teenage”

The controversy started after viewers spotted Summer’s brightly coloured notebook, complete with her name written across the front cover and emotional entries inside. One line in particular caught fans’ attention: “THEO IS A !!MONSTER!! AN ACTUAL INHUMAN !!MONSTER!!” Many viewers felt the writing style looked more suited to a teenager than a university student in her early twenties.

One fan directly questioned the storyline online, writing, “Have the writers forgotten how old Summer is?” Another viewer pointed out the spelling mistake involving the word “promise,” writing, “Can’t spell either ‘promice’.” That immediately sparked more reactions, with another fan joking, “Isn’t she supposed to be studying English? 😂”

CS/ Theo taunts Summer

Several viewers also felt the entire journal aesthetic looked childish. One commenter wrote, “She acts and dresses like a 14 year old”. While another added, “It was very Wednesday Addams / generic Netflix teen lol.” Someone else even compared the writing style to “Dork Diaries,” saying the inside of the notebook felt strange and unrealistic for someone Summer’s age.

Still, not everyone agreed with the criticism. Many fans defended the notebook and admitted they owned similar journals themselves. One viewer wrote, “I’m middle aged and would love that notebook 😂”. While another added, “I’m 56 and I think my journal is even more childish looking, so… to each their own?”. A different fan laughed, “100% this. I’m 42 and have several journals that look similar (angry ramblings aside) on the go 😂”

Viewers Think The Show Is Hiding Something Bigger

While some fans focused on the notebook itself, others became convinced the scene was setting up a darker twist in Theo’s storyline. A few viewers compared Summer’s writing to the disturbing handwritten notes linked to Lucy Letby. One fan wrote, “Lucy Letby did this in her 30s too. I think this is where they got the idea.” Another agreed, replying, “Yeah, I’m pretty sure that was the inspiration.”

However, some fans defended Summer’s behaviour by pointing to her mental health struggles and traumatic past. One commenter explained, “The content? Well…. almost certainly. Because of what Summer has been through in earlier life, she has been encouraged to write her thoughts out like this.” Another viewer added, “Tell me you’ve never been in therapy without telling me you’ve never been in therapy.”

The speculation did not stop there either. Some viewers now believe Summer may somehow be involved in Theo’s disappearance or death. One fan openly asked, “Does anyone else think that Summer killed Theo and George helped cover it up?”. But not everyone agreed with that theory. Another viewer responded, “No. It’s being made to think that, but I’d say it’s Miles and maybe Danielle.”

Other fans think the soap is deliberately misleading viewers before the real reveal arrives. One theory gaining attention online suggested Summer may believe she killed Theo without realising somebody else finished the job later. A viewer wrote, “I’m wondering if she maybe thinks she killed him but is unaware someone else finished him off later.”

Whether viewers found the journal creepy, childish, or completely believable, Coronation Street fans are now more suspicious than ever. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers and behind-the-scenes updates.
