Coronation Street fans are now convinced that Maggie Driscoll’s confession to Ben may have opened the door for a new arrival in Weatherfield. After blackmail pushed Maggie into revealing part of the truth about his father’s death, viewers quickly picked up on one name from the past that could soon change everything for the Driscoll family.
Fans Predict Finlay’s Arrival After Maggie’s Confession
Maggie Driscoll finally came clean to her son, Ben, during Thursday’s visit to the cobbles, but fans are not convinced she told him the full story. Her confession came after Megan Walsh threatened to destroy Maggie’s family by exposing what happened to Alan all those years ago.
Megan, who had been arrested and charged for grooming Will, called Maggie and warned that if she did not help secure her release, she would tear the family apart by telling them about Alan’s death. Maggie refused to let Megan use the secret to escape her crimes, so she decided to speak to Ben herself before anyone else could control the story.
However, Maggie only gave Ben part of the truth. She admitted that she had not simply found Alan at the bottom of the stairs and revealed that there had been a tussle before his death. But she stopped short of admitting that she had pushed him down the stairs. Even though flashback scenes last year showed exactly that.
The half-confession immediately made viewers suspicious. Since young Finlay had witnessed Alan’s death in the flashbacks, fans believe he could be the next person to arrive. And his appearance could finally expose the part of the story Maggie left out.
Maggie’s Blackmail Nightmare Brings Finlay Back Into Focus in Coronation Street
The theory comes after Maggie spent days under pressure from more than one direction. Before Megan’s threat, Will Driscoll’s mum, Melanie, had already confronted Maggie outside the Rovers Return pub. There, Maggie had been revealed as the new landlady back in October after Ben borrowed money from her.
Melanie wanted Will to move to Scotland with her following his grooming ordeal with Megan. But Maggie remained determined to keep her family together. Melanie then turned the tables by blackmailing Maggie over Alan’s death, knowing that Maggie was responsible for what happened.
Maggie’s secret then reached Megan, who had already been kidnapped and confronted by Eva Price, Leanne Battersby, and Toyah Habeeb. Megan arrived and revealed that she had heard everything between Maggie and Melanie. Maggie tried to deny it, but Megan goaded her and revealed that she had recorded their conversation.
Later, Maggie confronted Megan at the precinct and demanded that she delete the recording. During their row, Maggie said she knew Megan had lied about losing her baby and had actually had an abortion. Their confrontation ended when Will interrupted them, and while Megan left unharmed, Maggie suffered a heart attack.
For now, Maggie has tried to stay ahead of Megan’s blackmail by telling Ben her version of events. But if Finlay does turn up on the cobbles, he could bring the missing truth with him.
