Coronation Street star Helen Worth is bowing out after fifty years from the cobbles, and she has shared a farewell message for her fans. As her final episode wraps up, we see Helen sharing a video right from the Platt family room, and we can’t be happier. While onscreen, Helen’s character, Gail, is still supposed to exit from Weatherfield on the Christmas Day special episode and start a new life with Jesse in France.
Gail’s Happy Ending
As we have already seen, Gail had to go through a lot to marry the love of her life. In fact, her own family was against her, especially Audrey. She never wanted her to marry again and even tried to pull several stunts to break them off. She even faked her illness just to make Gail delay the wedding and eventually cancel it. Lastly, when nothing worked, she told her that Jesse was hiding something from her to initiate a misunderstanding.
Even Gail herself had her doubts when she learned that Jesse had supported David with money laundering. On top of that, her ex-husband Richard came back from the dead in her dreams to express his views. But finally, fighting everything and everyone, Gail took her first step towards her happiness – and got married to Jesse. Soon, the couple headed off from the cobbles for France for the next chapter of their lives.
Helen’s Emotional Message
Coronation Street’s official channel has now released a video message from Helen Worth, right from the Platt family’s living room before she wrapped up. Dedicating to the whole Corrie fanbase, she first thanked everyone for the opportunity and recalled her fifty-year journey. She even got nostalgic and asked if there was anyone who watched her from the first day to the last. Lastly, she thanked everyone, even her cast and crew, for such a wonderful journey!
It was in June when Helen first announced her decision to leave Corrie. Though she didn’t specify any reason behind her decision, it’s probably because she wants to explore other opportunities and spend some time with her family. Whatever it is, we wish her all the best for the future – and Gail will always be there in our hearts!
