A killer from the past of Coronation Street is now dangerously close to being exposed. Maggie Driscoll has kept the truth about her husband Alan’s death hidden for 35 years, but the latest release shows that her secret may not stay buried for much longer.
Maggie Driscoll Has Been Hiding A Deadly Secret
Maggie Driscoll is not a new killer on the cobbles, but her crime has stayed hidden for decades. She killed her husband Alan 35 years ago, and for all this time, she has allowed people to believe that his death was a terrible accident.
Viewers learned more about Alan’s death through flashbacks that aired last year. The scenes showed that Maggie and Alan’s marriage had become tense and unhappy. During one argument, things went too far, and Maggie pushed Alan down the staircase.
Alan suffered fatal injuries after the fall. Maggie then covered up what really happened and continued to live with the secret. However, she did not know that her youngest son, Finlay, had seen the whole thing from a distance.
Finlay carried that memory for years. Maggie thought she had hidden the truth from everyone, but Corrie’s “murder week” changed that. Her former daughter-in-law Melanie revealed that Finlay knew how Alan had really died.
Megan Walsh Now Holds Power Over Maggie
Melanie had stayed in touch with Finlay after her split from Ben. Finlay had told her about the moment Maggie killed Alan, and Melanie later used that information against Maggie. However, the secret became even more dangerous when Megan Walsh overheard the confrontation.
Megan recorded the altercation on her phone. That gave her proof that could ruin Maggie’s life. Melanie also blackmailed Maggie and forced her to convince teenager Will to move to Scotland with her.
But Will used that situation to run away to France and live with his abuser, Megan. Tim Metcalfe later managed to get through to Will and convinced him to report Megan to the police. Because of that, Will did not go to France or Scotland, and Ben kept his son close.
Megan called Maggie and made a serious threat. She said she would tell the police about Alan’s death if Maggie did not get Will to drop the charges against her. At the same time, Melanie was still asking why Will had not come to live with her. Maggie knew she could not keep avoiding the truth.
Maggie finally asked Ben to sit down and told him what had happened. She explained that Alan had known about her affair with Jim McDonald. That affair had resulted in Ben’s birth, and it became the reason behind Maggie and Alan’s final argument.
