EVA IN DANGER? Maggie’s Chilling Past Comes Back To Haunt Her in Coronation Street

By Roy

Eva Price walked back into the Rovers hoping for a warm, fresh start but things haven’t exactly gone to plan. And now, with Maggie Driscoll taking centre stage again, there’s something big coming up that hints we barely know this woman at all.

Eva And Maggie’s Ongoing Cold War

When Eva came home to Weatherfield in 2025, taking over her family pub with Ben felt like the dream. But the dream came with Maggie and Maggie came with opinions. Fans knew Pauline McLynn as Mrs Doyle from Father Ted, but Maggie couldn’t be more different. She stepped into the Rovers like she’d been running it her whole life, and Eva felt the heat from day one. The clashes have been constant. Cocktails? They fight over them. Karaoke? Fight.

CS/ Eva and Maggie’s cold war

Basically, if Eva likes something, Maggie seems ready to disagree. And still, Maggie melts into a soft, proud nana whenever Will and Ollie are around. She also showed a gentler side when she helped Asha Alahan through a panic attack in Victoria Gardens, calmly encouraging her to get proper mental-health support. So yes, she can be kind. But that doesn’t cancel out her sharper edges. And now, with her birthday storyline on the way, the atmosphere in the Rovers is about to shift in a way Eva never expected.

Coronation Street: A Birthday Episode With A Twist

Maggie’s upcoming birthday isn’t just a cake-and-candles moment. Pauline McLynn shared that Maggie turns 65, which the show included as a nod to Coronation Street’s milestone. She said that Maggie deals with family events the same way many parents do, she puts on a brave face, shows up, and performs whatever needs doing.

But this time, we’ll get a glimpse of the private Maggie she usually hides. What makes this episode different is the flashback. And not the usual soap five-years-ago flashback. This goes wayback.

Pauline explained that the team recreated Maggie’s past so carefully that the costumes, sets, and makeup felt unbelievably authentic. She said it was tough to recreate an older era, but the departments pulled it off brilliantly. Pauline described filming the scene where Maggie sees her younger self as strange and magical, because she literally watches her past through Maggie’s eyes. The big question, of course, is what Maggie’s hiding.

So if this flashback stirs something in Maggie, Eva might have more to worry about than snide comments and arguments over karaoke. This isn’t the kind of secret that fades quietly into the background. It could change the whole Driscoll family atmosphere and maybe even why Maggie treats Eva the way she does.
