Soap fans will need to adjust their viewing plans once again as Coronation Street faces another round of schedule changes. ITV’s coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup semi-finals has forced the broadcaster to move episodes around.
It includes replacing one night’s visit to Weatherfield with a special hour-long episode later in the week. Scroll down to get more information.
Why Coronation Street Is Changing Its Schedule This Week
Coronation Street will still air in its regular 8.30pm to 9pm slot on Monday, July 13, as there is no football coverage on ITV. However, the schedule changes on Tuesday, July 14, when the channel will broadcast the highly anticipated World Cup semi-final.

Rather than skipping an episode completely, ITV has combined Tuesday and Wednesday’s instalments into a one-hour special. Viewers can watch the extended episode on Wednesday, July 15, from 9pm to 10pm on ITV1. The later slot is possible because England’s World Cup semi-final against Argentina will air on the BBC instead of ITV.
The full Coronation Street schedule for this week is Monday, July 13, from 8.30pm to 9pm. However, there will be no episode on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday on ITV1. And Friday, July 17, from 8.30pm to 9pm on ITV1.
World Cup Coverage Continues To Disrupt ITV’s Soap Schedule
The latest change is another in a long list of schedule disruptions caused by ITV’s major sports coverage. Since the broadcaster introduced its new weekday soap pattern earlier this year, football tournaments and other sporting events have regularly forced changes to the timetable.
A source explained that the constant adjustments have become a growing concern behind the scenes. They said, “It’s proving quite the headache behind the scenes. “Soap fans have already had to get used to the new slots, which came in at the beginning of the year. So, with more changes coming there’s a real fear they could lose more viewers.

Fans who do not want to wait until the evening broadcast can still watch new Coronation Street episodes from 7am. ITV introduced its new weekday “soap power hour” schedule in December 2025. Under the format, Emmerdale airs at 8pm, followed by Coronation Street at 8.30pm, with both soaps running for 30 minutes each weekday.
However, major sporting events have repeatedly interrupted that schedule over the past several months. To ensure viewers still receive the same amount of story content, ITV occasionally combines two episodes into an hour-long special instead of removing one completely.
