It’s not all smiles at number 4 this week in Coronation Street. As Sally and Tim continue their journey towards fostering, an emotional bust-up at home leaves more than just tension in the air, and two young girls caught in the crossfire.
A Change of Heart and a Fresh Start?
A short while back, the thought of fostering left Sally raising an eyebrow. Tim was interested in the idea, but Sally wasn’t so sure. She felt they were perhaps beyond that point in life. However, when Tim began assisting Lou Michaelis’s daughters, Joanie and Shanice, Sally was shocked, particularly when she discovered he’d done it behind her back.
She marched off to the Rovers, seething. But a straight talk with Glenda changed her mind. Glenda spoke to her about it being never too late to give a child a secure home. That conversation sowed a seed. Next up, Sally and Tim were booking a training session with the fostering agency and appeared to be finally at peace.
A Row Breaks Out in Coronation Street
But this week, something changed. Sally comes home to discover Tim babysitting Joanie and Shanice for the second time. She’s not pleased. Accusing Lou of taking advantage, Sally tells Tim she thinks the girls are being dropped off a bit too easily. Tim, however, says he’s only doing his part and calls it good practice.
One leads to another, and in no time, the couple are in a heated argument. In the heat of the moment, they don’t notice what’s going on right under their noses, Joanie and Shanice grabbing onto one another, obviously frightened by the yelling.
The argument shakes them. Later, Sally and Tim sit down to talk. They both agree that Joanie and Shanice deserve better, something more stable, calm, and loving. And that maybe, just maybe, they could offer that.
While Sally still carries doubts, the moment with the girls clearly hits her hard. She’s starting to see that fostering isn’t just about parenting again, it’s about stepping up when someone truly needs you.
