Will Driscoll Falls Into a Dangerous Trap
The latest Corrie newcomer, teenager Will Driscoll, has found himself in real trouble, though he doesn’t even realise it. The poor lad is being groomed by his athletics coach and teacher, Megan, who’s played by newcomer Beth Nixon. Megan has just landed a job at Weatherfield High, putting her right in the middle of Will’s world, both at school and outside it. On the surface, Megan seems supportive, the kind of teacher any parent would trust.
But she’s far from it. Will’s only fifteen, and he’s too young to see what’s really happening. His family, including Eva and Maggie, think she’s a good influence, not knowing that she’s actually manipulating him. And it’s about to get even more complicated. Since Megan works at the same school as Daniel Osbourne, the two cross paths and that’s when things start taking an even darker turn.
Daniel Gets Caught in Megan’s Lies
According to actress Beth Nixon, Megan doesn’t just happen to get close to Daniel, she plans it. Nixon shared that Megan starts something romantic with him to hide her secret relationship with Will. It makes her look respectable to everyone else, while also making Will jealous and easier to control. But what begins as a cover-up soon spirals out of Megan’s hands. Nixon said that her character starts catching real feelings for Daniel, which only adds to the chaos.
Megan’s basically spinning plates, trying to keep Will quiet, maintain her lies, and stop her new romance from blowing everything up. The actress described Megan as calm and confident on the outside but a total wreck underneath. She’s full of self-doubt and fear, yet she hides it behind charm and control. That’s what makes her so dangerous, she’s desperate for attention but terrified of losing it.
The Cracks Begin to Show in Coronation Street
As the story moves forward, it’s becoming clear that Megan’s charm is just a mask. Nixon explained that Megan’s driven by narcissism, she needs to be adored. Will gives her that sense of power. To him, she’s amazing; funny, beautiful, mature and she feeds off that. Without his admiration, she’d crumble. Will’s background makes him an easy target. He’s just moved from Hull, doesn’t have his mum around, and his family’s busy running the pub. He’s lonely and craving attention exactly what Megan gives him.
She’s found her “perfect victim.” To keep her secret safe, Megan gets closer to Will’s family. Everyone thinks she’s doing right by him, except Lauren Bolton. Having gone through something similar herself, Lauren starts picking up on the signs. She can see the red flags, even if no one else does. When Megan realises Lauren’s suspicious, she changes tactics again. She doubles down on her “relationship” with Daniel to throw everyone off.
Even though Megan’s behaviour is twisted, Nixon said she wanted to show that her character isn’t just evil for the sake of it. There’s a brokenness underneath; she’s insecure, desperate for love, and shaped by her own painful past. Nixon added that Megan’s backstory will slowly come out, and viewers will see why she’s the way she is.
