Daniel Reaches Breaking Point After Another Setback In Coronation Street
Daniel has been struggling ever since he discovered that his girlfriend Megan Walsh had been grooming Will Driscoll. The shocking truth turned his life upside down and left him dealing with the fallout.
Things became even worse when Daniel became the target of a cruel online hate campaign. The abuse was originally started by his new friend Jodie Ramsey. Although she later shut the account down, another troll called ‘TruthTeller2’ quickly appeared and continued posting nasty comments. The constant attacks took a serious toll on Daniel’s mental health.
Next week, Daniel gets ready to return to work after serving his suspension. Bertie tries to cheer him up by giving him a ‘Best Teacher’ mug. However, when Lily Platt accidentally breaks the gift, Daniel becomes upset and storms out of the school.
He heads to the pub and drinks too much. Later, while wandering around the precinct, he unexpectedly runs into Megan. Given everything she has put him through, the encounter could easily turn ugly.
Speaking about Daniel’s state of mind, actor Rob Mallard said: “Well he’s definitely got form, hasn’t he? He’s lost his head and lashed out at people before and it’s always an interesting aspect to his character.
“So I would say, yeah, she could be in trouble. He’s done a lot of work over the years to kind of quieten that side of himself but things like this just bring it straight back to the surface.”
Jodie’s Betrayal Leaves Daniel Furious
Daniel’s bad day does not end there. After returning home, he continues reading the horrible comments that have been posted about him online. Instead of finding some peace, he gets another shock.
Jodie accidentally reveals that she was the person behind the trolling account. Daniel feels completely betrayed and immediately throws her out of the flat.
Rob Mallard described it as a “moment of complete betrayal” and explained that Daniel always had doubts about trusting Jodie. The discovery confirms his fears and leaves him questioning his judgment once again.
The actor also suggested that this latest betrayal could seriously affect Daniel’s ability to trust women in the future. After being hurt so many times, Daniel may finally have reached his limit.
“I think there was that kind of vague hope where you think, well, what are the chances that she’s another wrong ‘un, of all the bad things that have just happened to me, what are the chances that she’s also going to be bad?
“I think this will be the endpoint of his trust in women. He’s been betrayed so many times now, ever since his mum left him. Bar Sinead he’s not made the best choices so Jodie should watch out.” Daniel is now dealing with betrayal from two different women who have played major roles in his recent struggles.
