Ronnie has been Debbie’s strongest supporter ever since she received her vascular dementia diagnosis. He remained loyal during some of the darkest periods of her life, including the time she spent in prison after taking the blame for a crime that was ultimately linked to her son Carl.
That unwavering support made their recent marriage even more emotional. Ronnie repeatedly proved that he would do anything for Debbie, especially as her condition became more difficult to manage. However, next week’s episodes show him making a major decision without her knowledge.
The situation begins after Carl becomes entangled in more criminal activity. Ronnie, Kevin Webster and Tyrone Dobbs discover a gun at the garage and quickly realise that Carl is once again mixed up with dangerous people.
When Debbie learns about the latest drama involving her son, the stress takes a toll on her, leaving Ronnie desperate to find a solution.
Carl’s Actions Push Ronnie Into A Difficult Position
Carl has been a constant source of pain for Debbie and Ronnie. Over the past year, he has lied, manipulated family members and repeatedly caused chaos in their lives. His actions even contributed to Debbie’s imprisonment and the worsening of her dementia symptoms.
Despite everything, Debbie struggled to completely turn her back on her son. Eventually, she accepted that Carl would never change and paid him £2,000 to leave her life. The decision broke her heart, but she believed it was necessary.
That separation did not last long. Carl soon returned to his old habits and accepted work from Fiona Morley fixing stolen vehicles. Once Fiona became involved again, the threat hanging over Carl also became a threat to Debbie’s peace of mind.

Ronnie’s Choice Could Break Debbie’s Heart in Coronation Street
Determined to stop Fiona from causing further trouble, Ronnie arranges a private meeting with her. During the conversation, he admits that he does not know where the gun is, but he offers to pay Fiona off if she agrees to leave Carl alone for Debbie’s sake.

The decision may have been made out of love, but it leaves Ronnie keeping a major secret from the woman he promised to protect.
