Coronation Street is about to reveal the truth behind Christina Boyd’s secretive behaviour, and the answer could create serious trouble for several Weatherfield residents.

1. Christina’s Past Will Finally Come To Light
The storyline will not only deal with Christina’s current money problems. It will also take viewers further into her past and explain parts of her life that have remained unclear until now.
Fans know about her difficult relationship with Daisy, but Amy Robbins says the coming months will reveal much more about Christina and the experiences behind her behaviour.
“The next few months will be revelatory – you’ll find out a lot about her and why she has this addictive personality, why motherhood was so difficult for her – it will explain a lot,” promises Amy.
She adds, “I’ve worked as a Samaritan and I’ve realised there’s always a reason why people suffer or have a difficult life. Exploring Christina’s past is a rabbit hole you could go down and never come out of!”
2. Christina Has Been Hiding Years Of Money Trouble
Christina’s problems did not begin recently. Amy believes the character once enjoyed a far more comfortable lifestyle, especially during her relationship with Daisy’s father.
However, her circumstances later changed badly, and she eventually struggled just to keep herself going.
“She’s probably been used to a high standard of living in the past,” explains Amy. “I imagine her ex, Daisy’s dad, had a few bob and she had a glamorous life at one stage.
Then she fell on hard times – remember, she was living on a friend’s barge in Amsterdam before she came to Weatherfield, so I think she racked up credit card debt just to be able to pay rent and get by.”
3. Keeping Up Appearances Makes Everything Worse in Coronation Street
Christina also wants people to believe she is doing well, even when the reality looks very different. Amy explains that appearances matter greatly to her character, and small purchases may have slowly added to a much bigger financial problem. Jewellery and sparkly items became an easy way to cheer herself up, but the habit came at a serious cost.
“Looks are important to her,” notes Amy. “I imagine she started ordering bits of jewellery online. She has a penchant for slightly ghastly dangly earrings, and someone’s got to pay for them!”
Amy continues, “A lot of cheap things just built up over time. You buy sparkly stuff to cheer yourself up, and before you know it you’re in trouble. Until she met George, it was one bad choice after another for Christina.”
4. Mary Gets Dragged Into Christina’s Crisis
Christina’s secret soon becomes much bigger than unpaid bills. It emerges that she has fraudulently taken out credit cards in other people’s names, and Mary is among those affected. Mary is furious, while Christina faces the painful possibility of losing the family life she had finally found at number 11.
“It’s terrible – Mary is so angry,” sighs Amy. “For the first time in her life, Christina felt she had a family with everyone at number 11, now she’s blown it.” Amy also explains, “Christina has been trying to pay the balance on these cards herself, so she thought she’d get away with it. What she’s done is fraud, but I don’t think Christina was trying to deceive anyone.
She’s always had to look after herself and pay her own way so was doing this to survive. She’s had to develop different ways to keep going and pay her own way and get through life.
It looks to the outside like she’s scamming people, but actually she is just doing what it takes to survive. She is tough.”
5. George Supports Christina in Coronation Street
George initially stands by Christina when the truth comes out and others turn against her. Amy says Christina genuinely admits she caused trouble and never meant for the situation to become so serious. George feels sorry for her and wants to help, giving Christina a chance to be truthful about everything.
“When she’s open and honest and says she didn’t mean to cause trouble, which is all genuine, George feels for her and wants to help,” confirms Amy. However, the situation soon changes. “However, Christina falls off the wagon and starts lying again.
