Ryan Thomas has shared a very honest story from his time on Coronation Street, and it shows a side of him fans don’t always see. He spoke about a moment when a co-star directly told him that his behaviour was not coming across well. That one conversation stayed with him and helped him change.
Ryan Thomas Talks About His Early Days On Corrie
Ryan played Jason Grimshaw for 16 years before leaving the show ten years ago. He even returned for a short time last summer. Recently, he spoke about his past on the At Home with The Thomas Bro’s podcast. The topic came up after his brother Adam appeared on I’m a Celebrity… South Africa.
Ryan spoke very openly about how he behaved when he was younger. He said growing up in the public eye was not easy. Fame came early, and he admitted that it affected his attitude.
He did not hold back while talking about himself. He clearly said that at times he acted badly and even called himself “a proper dickhead.” At the same time, he explained that he has always been someone who shows his feelings openly.
Charles Dale Calls Him Out On Set
Ryan then shared a story about his co-star Charles Dale, who played Dennis Stringer. One day, Charles took him aside and spoke to him directly in the green room. Charles told him that he was acting “a little bit cocky” and that people had started noticing it. He also made it clear that it was not looking good. Ryan did not argue or feel upset. He accepted it and said, “Yeah, I needed that.”
It made a big difference. It helped Ryan understand how others saw him. He started thinking more about how he behaved after that. Ryan also spoke about how things work in the industry today. He said many people try to act a certain way and are “playing the game” instead of being real.
Ryan explained that people nowadays do not like fake personalities. He said audiences can easily tell when someone is not being real. He also spoke about people saying that he can be rude to fans. Ryan said that is not true. He said he is usually good with people and behaves normally.
He shared one example to explain this. He remembered a woman who was trying to take photos without asking properly. Instead of ignoring her, he and another person joined in and posed while she took the pictures.
Things have changed over the years, and Ryan has also grown up. But it takes guts to come clean and say this. So, kudos! Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers and behind-the-scenes updates.
