Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor is marking a huge moment in her career this month, as it has been 40 years since she first appeared on screen as Sally Metcalfe. A sweet card from her co-star Tony Maudsley, showing a cartoon of her very first scene where Sally gets splashed by Kevin’s car, has turned the milestone into something even more special and personal.

Sally Dynevor first joined Coronation Street on 27 January 1986, making her debut as Sally Seddon before later becoming Sally Webster and then Sally Metcalfe.

Over the next four decades, she became one of Weatherfield’s most familiar and loved faces, making this month a huge milestone in her career. To mark the occasion, Dynevor shared the 40th anniversary card she received from Tony Maudsley.

The card featured a cartoon of Sally’s very first scene on the show, showing her getting splashed by Kevin’s car as it drove through a puddle, the exact moment her Coronation Street journey began.

Even though it is not exactly 40 years to the day, the timing was close enough to make the tribute feel just right. The image on the card took fans straight back to where it all started. Dynevor told her Instagram followers she could not believe she was celebrating 40 years on Corrie this month.

Tony Maudsley Turns Sally’s First Scene Into A Special Tribute

Tony Maudsley quickly replied to her post, telling her she was very welcome and wishing her a happy “Corriversary.” He also called her a massive legend, a message that perfectly matched the moment she was celebrating.

By choosing to focus on her very first scene for the card, Maudsley made the gift far more than just a standard anniversary message. The cartoon of Sally being splashed by Kevin’s car linked the very start of her time on the show.

The tribute also showed the close bond between the cast, especially after working together for so many years. Dynevor sharing it publicly allowed fans to see just how much the gesture meant to her. Cait Fitton praised her and congratulated her, while Sally Carman-Duttine joked that it could not possibly be 40 years. While Savannah Pennington shared a more emotional message. She said how much she felt lucky to be part of even a small piece of Dynevor’s on-screen journey. Dynevor already said that she plans to stay on Coronation Street well into her later years.
