Sam Blakeman’s mental health struggles take a frightening turn in upcoming Coronation Street scenes. A new spoiler video shows the youngster terrified after seeing two versions of Roy Cropper at the same time.
As Sam’s hallucinations worsen, those closest to him become increasingly concerned about his wellbeing. Scroll down to learn more.
Sam’s Fears Goes Out Of Control
Sam has struggled ever since he discovered that Megan Walsh was abusing Will Driscoll. Although Megan was eventually exposed, the experience left him deeply affected.
Since then, Sam has been experiencing visual and auditory hallucinations. At first, he saw Will blaming him for revealing the truth. More recently, he has started seeing Roy Cropper. However, unlike the real Roy, this version encourages dangerous behaviour and fuels Sam’s fears.
In upcoming scenes, the hallucinated Roy tells Sam to get rid of Will once and for all. When Sam says he is not a violent person, Roy calls him a coward.
Later, Sam finds Will alone in the Rovers playing a shooting video game. Hearing Roy warn that Will wants to kill him too, Sam panics and runs to the café, locking himself inside.
Sam Sees Two Versions Of Roy in Coronation Street
A new spoiler clip shows Sam becoming increasingly distressed inside the café while Leanne Battersby calls Nick Tilsley for help. When the real Roy arrives and asks if Sam is okay, the youngster is horrified to see two versions of him. One Roy stands nearby while another sits in a chair. The seated Roy, who is part of Sam’s hallucination, claims that Will is tricking him.
Unable to cope, Sam runs from the café. Carla Connor-Swain later finds him and immediately notices how frightened he is. She tries to comfort him while calling Nick. Carla continues trying to calm Sam, but when Nick and David Platt arrive, he runs away again. Concerned by what she has witnessed, Carla tells them that she believes Sam may be suffering from psychosis.
Speaking about the storyline, Ben Price praised Jude Riordan’s performance. He said: “It’s very tricky in the show to go from a child actor to, you know, your voice breaks, you get bigger, and you’re given a story which brilliantly bridges the child-to-adult story. Which you’re carrying. ‘We did talk about it a lot. We’re quite close in a very work way. We’re very good at sitting down and going, “What do they need from the scene?”.
