The latest Coronation Street spoilers confirm that villain Joel Deering has indeed breathed his last on the ITV soap. Kit Green discovers his body floating in the water, with an injury that seems to have been caused by a crowbar. This means actor Calum Lill has exited the soap. While Joel has done some really horrible things in the past, there is still a possibility that his feelings for Dee-Dee were genuine.
Dee-Dee, portrayed by Channique Sterling-Brown, met Joel last year and soon fell in love with the man. Of course, her feelings developed during the time she was in the dark about his tainted past. However, once she learned the truth about how he has groomed and abused many young girls in the past, including Lauren Bolton, she broke up with him on Coronation Street.
While many would be happy to see the horrible Joel Deering go, seeing Calum Lill leave is a different story altogether, especially, for Channique Sterling-Brown. Reliving the beautiful moments the actor shared together, she shared a sweet montage video of her and Calum’s time in Weatherfield.
“RIP Joel Deering. You were flipping awful but you came in the form of one of my best mates and for that I’m very grateful. A year of shenanigans, endless brews, rehearsing only to get distracted and you carrying all my stuff,” Channique wrote in the caption of her post. Furthermore, she added that they shared an array of emotions while they worked together. Starting from grumpy, and giddy, to crying and laughing.
“Thanks for the best year Cal, I wouldn’t have wanted to tell DeeDee and Joel’s story with anyone else. Right that’s enough being nice now, we can’t afford for that head of yours to get any bigger,” she concluded. Callum was quick to reply in the comments of the emotional post. “This set me right off! So many good memories 💜 I’m gonna miss you so much… I’ll even miss having to carry your things everywhere,” he wrote to his Mate.
