Helen Flanagan is eager to land her next acting role after enjoying a successful run in theatre, but one opportunity remains at the top of her wish list.
The former Coronation Street star has revealed that she would love to step back onto the famous cobbles as Rosie Webster. However, despite her hopes, the call from ITV bosses has yet to arrive. Scroll down for more information.
Helen Flanagan Is Looking For Her Next Acting Role
After spending five months performing in pantomime and starring in a stage production she thoroughly enjoyed, Helen is now focused on finding her next project. The actress admitted that acting remains her biggest priority as she looks to build on the momentum she gained from her recent theatre work.
Speaking to the Daily Star on behalf of Paddy Power, Helen explained: “I was in theatre for five months, and I’ve had a bit of downtime since then, but right now I’m looking for my next job.
“I really want to focus on acting. I did an amazing play for a couple of months and absolutely loved it, so I’d really like to continue building on that side of my career.” A return to Coronation Street would be her ideal next move.
Helen first played Rosie Webster in 2000 and remained a regular on the ITV soap until 2012. She later returned in 2017 before taking maternity leave the following year after welcoming her second child, Delilah. Rosie’s storyline eventually saw her leave Weatherfield behind and start a new life in Japan.
Why A Coronation Street Comeback Has Not Happened Yet
Although Helen has made no secret of her desire to return, she revealed that the show’s producers have not approached her about reprising the role. The actress, who shares daughters Matilda, 10, and Delilah, seven, as well as five-year-old son Charlie with former fiancé Scott Sinclair, remains hopeful that the situation could change.
She said: “I really want to go back, but they just have not asked me. “If the cobbles come calling, I would love to. I am literally just down the road, but sadly, they have not yet.”
While she waits to see whether Rosie Webster could make a comeback, Helen is also open to joining another popular television drama. She believes she would fit naturally into the cast of the BBC school-based series Waterloo Road. Discussing the possibility, she said: “I think I’d be good in Waterloo Road. I’d probably play either a mum or a teacher. I think that would suit me well.”
Looking back on her years in Weatherfield, Helen admitted that she always enjoyed being involved in the soap’s biggest and most dramatic storylines. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers and behind-the-scenes updates.
