After debuting his shaved head and opening up about the procedure, the actor has reassured fans that the recovery process is moving in the right direction. Scroll down for more information.
Jack P Shepherd Shares Positive Hair Transplant Progress
Shepherd, who plays David Platt in Coronation Street, recently took to Instagram to update followers on how his latest hair transplant is progressing. The actor has previously undergone the treatment twice before, once in 2018 and again in 2019.
Sharing a brief update with fans, he revealed that he had washed his hair for the first time since the procedure and could already see signs of growth. “Washed it for the first time today. Growth is coming through slowly but surely. It’s alright, that’s it,” he laughed.

The actor first revealed he was undergoing another hair transplant during an episode of his podcast, On The Sofa. His co-stars Ben Price and Colson Smith were left stunned when he showed off his new appearance during the discussion.
As he explained the process, Shepherd revealed that this latest procedure marks the third time he has undergone the treatment. “This is my third one. So most people are thinking, I thought you’d just get one hair transplant and then it’s Elvis,” he said.
Why The Coronation Street Star Chose A Third Procedure
Shepherd went on to explain that hair loss can continue even after a successful transplant, which is why he decided to have another procedure. “But that’s not the case, apparently, because baldness still progresses as time goes on. So I had one in 2018, 2019, and now. So I’ve had it all done mainly on the front and sections.”
During the podcast, he removed the hat he had been wearing and revealed his shaved head while waiting for the transplanted hair to regrow. The reveal prompted plenty of reactions from his co-stars.

Colson Smith, who underwent a hair transplant himself in 2024, was quick to praise the new look. “I think it’s a look, you know. I actually quite like it,” he said, while Ben Price burst out laughing at the unexpected reveal.
Smith continued his support by telling Shepherd, “It suits you. Bald and beard’s a look,” while Price agreed, saying, “I actually don’t think you look that bad. I could get used to you like that.” Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers and behind-the-scenes updates.
