Jack P Shepherd has shared the story behind the name he and his wife, Hanni Treweek, chose for their baby girl. The Coronation Street star revealed that finding a name they both liked was not easy, but one unusual choice finally won them over. The name also had a personal link to their relationship, making the story even more special.
Jack P Shepherd Explains Why They Chose Constance
Jack was asked if he and Hanni had also picked a boy’s name as a backup. He confirmed they had, but he refused to reveal it because he worried someone might steal the idea. He said, “Yes, and I don’t want to reveal my name and someone steals it, even though I’m fully aware there is still. One other in the world.”
Jack admitted the secret choice was unusual. He then explained that he and Hanni wanted a baby name that felt different to them. They searched online and looked at names from different countries before finding one they both liked.
He explained, “What you do is when you’re picking names, you Google. Yeah. You go French names, Italian names, something that’s a bit, you know, European and posh. That’s what we were thinking. Unusual to us. That’s what we wanted.”
Constance Was The One Name They Both Liked
Choosing a name was not simple because Jack and Hanni often had different opinions. Constance stood out because it was one of the few names they both liked straight away. Jack said, “Constance came up, and it was probably the only one that we both agreed on. Both went, I like that.”
Other names were quickly rejected. Jack explained that sometimes Hanni disliked his suggestions, while he rejected some of hers because they reminded him of people he knew. He joked, “There were some that I thought and she went, absolutely not, and there were some that she said, and I went, absolutely not, because I know someone who is a bit of a dick. Who’s got that name. Who’s got that name. And then you write it off, don’t you?”
Constance worked because neither of them knew anyone with the name. Jack said, “So, we didn’t know anybody called Constance. I don’t know anyone called Constance. No.” The name also had a sweet connection to the couple’s relationship. He revealed, “And Constance was the first perfume that I bought Hanni. Really? Yeah, it was.”
