Coronation Street star Jude Riordan had a lovely reason to celebrate away from all the heavy drama around Sam Blakeman. The young actor recently turned 15, and his Corrie family made sure his birthday on set felt extra special.
Jude Riordan Celebrates His Birthday On Set
Jude Riordan, who plays Sam Blakeman in Coronation Street, recently marked his 15th birthday while working on the ITV soap. He shared a video on Instagram from the Bistro set, where his castmates and the crew came together to celebrate him.
In the video, the Corrie team counted down before Jude blew out his birthday candles. Everyone then cheered and clapped for him. Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah, was also part of the surprise and helped make the moment special.
Jude thanked everyone in his Instagram caption and wrote: “I mean a Bistro birthday is worth working on your birthday! Thank you for all my birthday messages and thank you to one of my most favourite people @realgeorgiataylor for my surprise.”
His co-stars soon shared sweet birthday messages in the comments. Harriet Bibby, who plays Summer Spellman, wrote: “Happy birthday mate!” Georgia Taylor also commented: “Ah we love you buddy.” Jane Danson, who plays Leanne Battersby, added: “Happy birthday darling!”
Sam Blakeman Has Been Through A Lot
Jude first appeared on Coronation Street in 2020. His character, Sam Blakeman, was introduced as the secret son of Nick Tilsley. Since then, Sam has been part of many big and emotional storylines. One of Sam’s saddest storylines was the death of his mother, Natasha Blakeman. She was murdered by villain Harvey Gaskell. Her death left Sam heartbroken.
More recently, Sam exposed the inappropriate relationship between athletics coach Megan Walsh, played by Beth Nixon, and Will Driscoll, played by Lucas Hodgson-Wale. After that, Megan tried to destroy Sam’s life, and the situation became even harder for him.
Sam struggled to deal with everything and started misusing unprescribed ADHD medication. Corrie boss Kate Brooks has also confirmed that Sam’s mental health will get worse as he continues to experience visual hallucinations.
