As Megan Walsh’s story comes to an end on Coronation Street, one of her co-stars has shared a touching message before her final scenes air.
Jude Riordan, who plays Sam Blakeman, paid tribute to Beth Nixon and reminded fans that although their characters were enemies on screen, they became good friends in real life. Scroll down for more information.
Jude Riordan Pays Tribute To Beth Nixon
Coronation Street star Jude Riordan has shared a heartfelt message for Beth Nixon before her exit from the ITV soap. Beth plays Megan Walsh, whose dramatic storyline is now coming to an end as she prepares to leave Weatherfield.
Fans have watched Megan make Sam Blakeman’s life miserable for months after he discovered that she had been abusing Weatherfield High student Will Driscoll. Sam became suspicious after he overheard a conversation between Megan and Will and slowly started putting the pieces together.
When Megan realised Sam could expose her, she tried to stop him. She encouraged Will to become friends with Sam while she slowly damaged his confidence.
She removed his coursework assignment from Daniel Osbourne’s marking pile so he would receive a late mark and made other people question his ability as a student.
Sam’s Discovery Led To Megan’s Downfall In Coronation Street
Everything became too much for Sam, and the stress had a serious effect on him. He took drugs and later collapsed. While recovering in hospital, he finally told Leanne Battersby about Megan’s abuse of Will. His confession led to Megan’s arrest and started her downfall.
Before those final episodes, Jude posted a photo of himself and Beth together on Instagram. Alongside the picture, he wrote: “FRIENDS REALLY, I really enjoyed working with Beth.” He added: “Megan really tormented Sam and pushed him right over the edge. But shows what a great baddie she is!”
Beth replied with her own emotional message. She wrote: “Aww Jude, you can see the tears in my eyes here🤣 I loved working with you and you are smashing this storyline, the [inside Soap] nomination is so so well deserved you are a [star emoji].”
