After spending almost seven years in Weatherfield, Nina Lucas is getting ready to leave Coronation Street. ITV has now confirmed that Mollie Gallagher has filmed her final scenes.
It brings an end to one of the soap’s most memorable recent characters. While fans prepare to say goodbye, the actress has already landed an exciting new job. Dive in for more information.
Mollie Gallagher’s Coronation Street Exit Confirmed
Coronation Street star Mollie Gallagher is officially leaving the ITV soap. Digital Spy has exclusively revealed that the actress has already completed filming her final scenes. Nina’s exit is expected to air in late August.
Mollie joined Coronation Street in late 2019 when Nina Lucas arrived in Weatherfield as Roy Cropper’s niece. Over the years, Nina became one of the show’s most loved young characters. Her emotional storylines and unique personality helped her become a fan favourite, making her exit a big moment for viewers.

Confirming the news, a Coronation Street spokesperson told Digital Spy: “Mollie has created a unique and well loved character in Nina over the past six and a half years.
Now, everyone will be sorry to see her go. “It is fantastic for Mollie that she has been given this incredible opportunity to play such an iconic role and we wish her all the best for the theatre tour.”
Mollie Gallagher Begins A New Chapter
Mollie will not be away from acting for long. She has already secured her next role and will make her professional stage debut as Clarice Starling in the UK and Ireland tour of Silence of the Lambs.
The production opens at Leicester’s Curve theatre on August 1 before travelling across the UK and Ireland until June 2027. Mollie will star alongside Coronation Street and Emmerdale actor Oliver Farnworth, who will play Jack Crawford. Skins star Sam Jackson has been cast as Buffalo Bill, while former EastEnders actor John Partridge will appear as Dr Hannibal Lecter.

The stage role marks an exciting new chapter in Mollie’s career. It gives her the chance to play one of the most famous characters in thriller history. Nina was at the centre of some of Coronation Street’s biggest storylines during Mollie’s time on the soap.
One of the most powerful came in 2021, when Nina and her boyfriend Seb Franklin were attacked in a brutal hate crime. The attack happened because of prejudice against Nina’s alternative appearance, and Seb later died from his injuries. As Nina prepares to leave Weatherfield later this summer, fans will soon find out how Coronation Street brings the story of one of its most loved characters to an end.
