Many Coronation Street fans know Samia Longchambon for playing Maria Connor, but the actress recently gave followers a glimpse into a much more personal struggle.

Samia Longchambon Says She Felt Guilty After Taking A Day To Rest
Samia took to Instagram to share a video after spending a few hours relaxing in the sunshine. Alongside the clip, she shared a thoughtful caption that explained why the experience left her questioning how women think about rest.
She wrote, “maybe may get this to speaking as a woman, I feel we always think we need to earn rest. Apparently, no other animal or species feels that rest has to be eared, so why do we?”
The actress then explained that although she had planned to simply enjoy the weather, the feeling did not last long. She admitted, “So, you know, I said a few hours ago, yeah, I’m gonna just chill and enjoy this weather, and yeah, I’ve done that. But the guilt kicks in so quickly. I’m thinking, oh, I could be doing this, I could be doing that, I should be doing this, I should be doing that.”
Coronation Street Actress Wondered Why Women Feel Pressure To Always Be Productive
Samia went on to explain how quickly her peaceful afternoon turned into self-doubt. Instead of enjoying the time she had taken for herself, she started feeling as though she had wasted her day.
She said, “So actually now, I just feel like I’ve wasted a few hours in the sun doing nothing when I should have been being more productive. Why do we as women have this guilt? Like, I feel guilty now that I’ve not done anything with my day. Like, I could have changed some beds, I could have gone shopping and done the food shop, I could have prepared tonight’s dinner. I could have paid some bills.”
The actress then admitted that she had done none of those things and instead enjoyed a simple afternoon. “I’ve not done any of that. I’ve just eaten some chocolate brownies and drank a few glasses of water. Right, I’m gonna go and do all that now because I feel too guilty. I’m gonna actually be productive.”
