Asha Alahan may finally be ready for a new chapter in Coronation Street. After spending more than two years on her own following her split from Nina Lucas, Asha is set to find herself at the centre of a fresh romance storyline.

Coronation Street: Asha’s Love Life Could Finally Be Moving Forward
Asha has been single since ending her relationship with Nina in early 2024. The couple had one of the show’s most popular romances and spent three years together before things fell apart.
Their relationship came to an end after Nina kissed Asha’s twin brother, Aadi. The betrayal proved too much for the pair to overcome, and they eventually decided to go their separate ways.
Even now, Tanisha Gorey looks back fondly on the relationship. The actress believes fans played a huge role in making the pairing such a success, with viewers even giving the couple the nickname “Nasha.”
“I feel the reason Asha and Nina happened was because of the love of the fans,” revealed Tanisha, who has played Asha since 2009. “They just loved us together, and I loved Nina and Asha together too. I loved how they were the complete opposite; Asha is pink, girly, and Little Mix-y and Nina is the goth of the street and really cool. I loved how they found common ground and loved each other.”
Nina And Asha Have Stayed Close After Their Split
Although their romance ended, Asha and Nina have managed to remain good friends. The former couple still spend time together and have moved on from the difficult circumstances that surrounded their breakup. Tanisha explained that Asha and Nina are part of a close friendship group alongside Summer and Amy. She enjoys seeing the characters maintain a healthy friendship instead of holding onto old grudges.
“There’s a little group of four of us, Asha, Summer, Amy and Nina,” Tanisha shared. “I really, really enjoy the fact that we hang out, there’s no animosity and we’ve manage to stay good friends throughout it all. We’ve got over it like mature adults and we’re wading through.”
Their friendship has continued to grow since the split, showing that both characters have been able to leave the past behind while staying an important part of each other’s lives. While Asha and Nina’s story is firmly in the past, it seems Asha’s future could soon involve somebody new. Tanisha confirmed that a new love interest is heading Asha’s way, although she kept most of the details under wraps.
The actress hinted that the upcoming storyline will not be all smiles and happy moments. Alongside the romance, viewers will also see Asha stepping up to support someone through a difficult situation. “There’s definitely something on the horizon and it’s really sweet,” explained Tanisha.
“It’s also a little bit sad, but we see Asha having to be supportive. I really hope the fans get behind the story and what’s coming up!”
