Sarah Platt’s future has suddenly become one of the biggest talking points on Coronation Street. After the soap finally revealed that Sarah was responsible for Theo Silverton’s death, actress Tina O’Brien has shared her thoughts on what could happen next. Scroll down for more.
Tina O’Brien Thinks Sarah Cannot Keep The Secret Forever
The shocking truth came out during the June 22 episode of Coronation Street, when flashbacks revealed that Sarah had killed Theo Silverton during a confrontation back in April.
After Theo threatened her and made cruel comments about her and Todd’s late baby, Billy, Sarah struck him with a metal pipe. Theo then fell from the scaffolding to his death. Sarah panicked and called Gary Windass, who stepped in and helped cover up what had happened.
Now that viewers know the truth, Tina believes the real challenge for Sarah will be living with the secret. Speaking on Inside Soap’s Soap Scoop podcast, she said: “I think she’d crack.”
Tina added: “I could be wrong, but I think she’d crack. I think the only thing that would make her keep going and keep quiet and try to bury it is that she’s got Bethany and Harry and she does not want to leave them.”
Coronation Street: Sarah’s Guilt Could Become Her Biggest Problem
According to Tina, Sarah understands that she acted in self-defence. However, she also knows that everything that happened afterwards has made the situation much worse.
Explaining why Sarah may struggle to stay silent, Tina said: “And she genuinely knows it was self-defence. But she’s handled the aftermath so badly that she knows that she has to put up or shut up. But whether she can, long-term… I’d be surprised.”
Sarah’s children could be the only reason she continues to hide the truth. Tina believes Sarah would do almost anything to avoid being separated from Bethany and Harry. Even so, keeping such a huge secret while Gary continues to cover up Theo’s death could put enormous pressure on Sarah. Tina’s comments suggest that the guilt may eventually become too much for her to handle.
