Coronation Street star Tracy Shaw has shared a very emotional update after her breast cancer diagnosis. The actress, who many fans remember as Maxine Peacock, spoke about the fear she feels before starting chemotherapy and admitted that some mornings have made her feel like she cannot face what is coming next.

Tracy Shaw Shares An Emotional Cancer Update

Tracy Shaw played Maxine Peacock on Coronation Street from 1995 to 2003. Last month, the 52-year-old actress told fans that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then, she has been sharing updates with her followers as she goes through hospital visits and waits for treatment to begin.

On Tuesday evening, Tracy posted a video on social media before going to hospital. She wore a headscarf in the video, but she made it clear that she had not shaved her head. She explained that she had only put the scarf on because she had not done anything with her hair that day.

In the Instagram video, she said, “I’m just going to be me, and my truth is…by the way, I’ve not shaved my hair off, I’ve just put a scarf on just because I’ve not done anything with it and I’m going to hospital.

“Each morning I wake up and know that I have to go into hospital and receive more news, which has been going on for a long time, that unknown…I just think ‘I can’t go through with this anymore,’ but I’ve not even started my journey.

Tracy Shaw Talks About Her Fear Before Chemo

Tracy said the waiting and the unknown have been very hard for her. She shared that she had a good cry that morning before going to hospital. She was also going to meet other women who would start chemotherapy with her.

Tracy continued, “I’ve had a good cry. I’ll go in later today and I’ll meet some other ladies who will start the treatment with me – chemo. And I’ll find out the date. 50% of me wants to get going. I want to know that it’s being shrunk and the cancer is being dealt with. When I wake up and I’ve got really bad headaches or I can feel another twinge in my other boob, I just think ‘Oh, it’s moving!’

The actress also spoke about HER2 cancer and said there is still uncertainty around what it is doing. She explained that clips have been placed to show where the two lumps are. But doctors need to shrink the cancer first. Tracy also thanked everyone who has helped raise money for cancer charities, as that support has helped scientists find new drugs and treatment options.

She said, “With HER2 cancer, we don’t really know what it’s doing. We know that the clips are in into know where those two lumps are placed, but until we’ve shrunk it. We, I mean the medical experts, I thank God for everyone who has raised money in the past for charities to be able to help scientists find new drugs be able to give women and gentleman like us a chance.
