Former Coronation Street star Tracy Shaw has shared another personal update as she gets ready to begin chemotherapy. The actress has revealed a beautiful new look after shaving her head, and she also opened up about the fear, tears, and uncertainty she is facing during her breast cancer journey.
Tracy Shaw Shares Her New Look Before Chemo
Tracy Shaw, who is best known for playing Maxine Peacock in Coronation Street, has shaved her head before starting chemotherapy. The 52-year-old actress shared the emotional moment on Instagram yesterday. Tracy played Maxine Peacock on the ITV soap from 1995 to 2003. During that time, Maxine became one of the show’s most loved and remembered characters.
She was part of many dramatic storylines, difficult relationships, and a tragic exit that shocked viewers. Last month, Tracy told fans that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then, she has been sharing honest updates about what she is going through. Her posts have shown the difficult side of treatment, but also her strength as she faces each step.

In her latest post, Tracy revealed that she will donate her hair to The Little Princess Trust. Fans quickly filled the comments with kind messages and praised her new look. She wrote: ‘Hair will be donated to Little Princess Trust. Another step on this breast cancer journey. Goodbye for now, crazy hair. Before chemo takes you away completely, I will enjoy what’s left for now ‘
Coronation Street: Tracy Opens Up About A Difficult Hospital Day
Earlier in the week, Tracy also shared another emotional update before going to the hospital. She wore a headscarf in the video and explained that she had not shaved her hair at that time. She said she had only put the scarf on because she did not have the energy to do anything with her hair.
Speaking openly to her followers, Tracy said: ‘I’m just going to be me, and my truth is…by the way, I’ve not shaved my hair off, I’ve just put a scarf on just because I’ve not done anything with it and I’m going to hospital.’ Tracy then explained how hard the constant hospital visits and waiting for news have become. She said the unknown has been going on for a long time, and some mornings feel too much to handle.

She said: ‘Each morning I wake up and know that I have to go into hospital and receive more news, which has been going on for a long time, that unknown…I just think ‘I can’t go through with this anymore,’ but I’ve not even started my journey.’
Tracy also said she had spent the morning crying as she thought about the next stage of treatment. She admitted that part of her wants chemotherapy to begin soon so she can feel that the cancer is being treated. She said: ‘I’ve had a good cry. I’ll go in later today and I’ll meet some other ladies who will start the treatment with me – chemo. And I’ll find out the date. 50% of me wants to get going.’
