Coronation Street legend Tracy Shaw has shared a heartbreaking update from her breast cancer journey. The former soap star has been keeping fans informed about her treatment and recently revealed the difficult reality of chemotherapy.
While she admitted that some days leave her feeling extremely unwell, she also spoke about finding comfort in nature, family, and the support of those around her. Scroll down to see how she is dealing with the diagnosis.
Tracy Shaw Shares The Reality Of Chemotherapy
Tracy, who played Maxine Peacock in Coronation Street from 1995 until 2003, announced in April that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She also revealed that she would need five months of chemotherapy treatment.
Last month, Tracy took another emotional step in her journey when she decided to cut off her hair before chemotherapy caused it to fall out completely. She donated her hair to The Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides wigs to children with cancer.

Sharing the moment on Instagram, Tracy wrote: “Hair will donated to Little Princess Trust. Another step on this breast cancer journey. Goodbye for now crazy hair. Before chemo takes you away completely, I will enjoy what’s left for now. (sic)” She later added: “To all you cancer survivors, I’m coming!”
On Thursday, June 4, Tracy shared photos showing her shaved head. She smiled while spending time with her dog and posted the pictures with the caption: “Next phase. My love to my sons Louis and Luca. Your my everything. Peace , joy and love to everyone.”

The following day, Tracy gave followers an honest look at how chemotherapy has affected her. She spoke openly about the symptoms she has been dealing with and how difficult some days have become.
“The reality of the situation. The living on two different parallels. The aftermath of the chemo effects… I’m absolutely starving, I can’t eat. I have thursh in my mouth and my lips are chapped.

Even during the toughest moments, Tracy said she has been lucky to have caring people around her. She revealed that a friend she described as an “earth angel” had prepared food for her and brought her a sewing machine. The friend also taught her how to sew and make quilts.
