Coronation Street is slowly building towards a difficult goodbye for Debbie Webster, but off-screen, the emotions are just as real. Sue Devaney has now shared how she truly feels about leaving the role, and it’s clear she never wanted it to end this way.

Sue Devaney Didn’t Want To Leave Debbie Behind

Devaney has opened up about her future on the show, and she made one thing clear; she didn’t want to leave Debbie Webster. After Debbie’s dementia diagnosis played out in emotional scenes last year, the storyline quickly became one of the most talked-about on the show.

Debbie was left heartbroken by the diagnosis, and Sue brought that pain to life in a very real way. Viewers connected deeply with those scenes, and many felt this was some of her best work on the cobbles.

CS/ Debbie storyline had a lot of struggles

When it came out that Debbie could eventually be written out, fans were not happy. Many even started campaigns asking the show to keep her. For now, though, Debbie isn’t going anywhere just yet, and with the storyline expected to continue, she will remain on screen for some time.

Debbie’s Story Has Been Full Of Drama

Debbie’s journey over the past year has been anything but easy. Earlier this year, she became part of the big crossover between Coronation Street and Emmerdale, which was a huge moment for both shows. But things took a dark turn when her brother Carl Webster used her condition against her. Carl caused a terrible crash involving a minibus.

Billy Mayhew was trapped in the vehicle and later died. Debbie was blamed for what happened and ended up in prison. She was going through months of pain before finally being released in April. Even now, her struggles are not over.

In upcoming scenes, Debbie will cut Carl out for good after he once again tries to take control. It’s a strong move that shows she is still fighting. Even though Sue Devaney didn’t want to leave, she knew the decision may not be hers to make. We’ll miss her!
